Alice and Cokey - June 2, 2007
It was a scorching hot Saturday as Alice and Cokey tied the knot in front of celubrius friends and family. In many respects, this was a unique and enjoyable wedding as it incorporated asepcts of both traditional Chinese weddings and western ones. Beyond that, though, these two newlyweds were just plain fun to work with.
The day begins with Alice's mother assisting her with her dress and jewelery in preparation for one of two tea ceremonies.
When Cokey arrived, he was made to prove his worthiness for Alice via several (mostly humorous) tasks. One of them was singing a love song for Alice while doing pushups. No small feat with the temperature hovering around 30 degrees. Nice job, Cokey. :)
The tea ceremony begins surrounded by friends and family.
Alice quickly slipped back into her western dress and it was time to head to the church. The vehicle was adorned with these two likenesses of the couple.
The bride is escorted down the isle by her father.
Vows are exchanged during a heartwarming ceremony ...
... and a kiss begins the marriage.
We took some formals at the legislature under a hot sun. Fortunately, big trees provide for some big shade and happy smiles.
The newlyweds enjoy a little stroll.
The beautiful bride flashes her smile.
The reception was held at the Westin hotel downtown. Here, Cokey elicits some laughter from the crowd.
The couple lights up the dance floor ...
... and then the streets of downtown Edmonton.
And one more in colour.
Your wedding was a lot of fun, Alice and Cokey, and I thank you for entrusting your memories to me. I wish you all the best for many years to come. We'll see you when you return from your honeymoon. Cheers!
