Chantel and Jeff - Engagement Session

Earlier this evening I had the great pleasure of doing an engagement session with Chantel and Jeff. This young and happy couple were full of smiles, laughter, and love making my job easy.

The treeline along 97 street north of 137 ave is in its full autumn glory - sporting beautiful oranges, reds, and yellows. We did our shoot there amongst a crowd of folks shooting everything from pets to wedding parties.

Chantel and Jeff take a stroll along the treeline.

An engagement ring and a kiss.

Chantel flashes a pretty smile at her future husband.

Thanks a bunch for the shoot, you two. You were a ton of fun and a pleasure to work with. Your wedding is going to be a great day. Cheers!

Amanda and Chris - Engagement Session

Last night I had the pleasure of doing an engagement shoot with Amanda and Chris. Amanda, a Calgary native met Chris in Edmonton a year ago. Sparks flew and now their wedding is slated for the summer of 2008.

We started the shoot in downtown Edmonton before moving to Whyte ave. Here, the couple is pictured wearing t-shirts with their favorite team logos on them. Yes *gasp* that is a Flames shirt that Amanda's wearing.

Amanda and Chris share a moment across a table on Whyte.

A brick wall decorated with graffiti and a handsome couple.

An affectionate Amanda and Chris enjoy each other's lips in front of a very colourful vendor.

Congratulations on the engagement, Amanda and Chris. I had a fun time doing the shoot with you and hope you did too. Cheers!

Pam and Dean - Engagement Session

Tonight I spent the evening on an engagement shoot with Pam and Dean. This great looking couple will be getting married during the holiday season this year and wanted to ensure they had some shots that didn't include snow. We did the shoot in Astotin Lake in Elk Island National Park - taking advantage of a lovely lake, beach, and sunset sky.

Early on, I suggested they remove their footwear and let their feet dangle in the water. I suspect the water was a bit cold but it sure looks like they didn't notice.

The couple enjoys the view from the shore.

A happy moment lit with late evening light.

Here, the photogenic Pam smiles for the camera as her future husband admires.

Thanks for the shoot, you two - you were both pleasant and fun to work with. I'm greatly looking forward to your big day this December. Cheers!

Pam and Brennan - September 23, 2006

Finally a break in the weather! And just in time for the wedding of Pam and Brennan. This happy couple tied the knot at Sunridge Ski Area on Saturday in front of a celubrius (salute, Bill) group of friends and family. While not necessarily swimsuit weather, the temperature was warm and the sun shined brightly.

The couple shares a smile as the ceremony gets underway.

The marriage was completed with a long, passionate kiss ... no quick smooch for these two.

The ceremony was held outdoors on the deck of the Sunridge ski lodge. Here, the happy couple leave the deck as husband and wife.

We shot the formals in the area around the lodge. The sunny skies and trees showing signs of autumn made for a lovely backdrop.

Here, the beautiful bride poses for a portrait amidst the leaves.

After the formals, the party moved indoors where various speeches made for an entertaining dinner.

A bit later in the evening, we headed back outside to take advantage of the setting sun.

Pam and Brennan prepare to cut the cake in front of their fans.

The first dance was held outside on the deck with friends and family holding sparklers all around the newlyweds. A big thumbs up on this idea.

Here, the couple shares a moment against the dusk sky.

I had a great time shooting your wedding, Pam and Brennan, and I thank you for that. You're a great couple who're well suited to each other. If you need a photographer when your 25th wedding anniversary rolls around, I'd be happy to oblige.

Chelsea and Chad - Engagement Session

What the heck is up with the weather? Eight days ago the temperature reached 30. And now? Well.. I guess if you ski you might be excited. It IS supposed to get better by the end of the week. But then again, if I had a nickel for every time the weather people were wrong...

Yesterday, I did an engagement shoot with Chelsea and Chad. This pleasant couple was a lot of fun and even rolled around in the grass for me despite its relative dampness. As having a roof nearby when the weather is inclement is always a good idea, we decided to shoot at Chelsea's parent's beautiful acreage a bit east of the city. As it turns out, it made for a great location.

We started the shoot indoors so as to avoid the extra rosy cheeks that would've undoubtedly come had we started outside.

Soon after, we moved outside where the couple cuddled in the grass.

No photographer worth his salt could ignore an old wooden wagon wheel. It looks like Chelsea and Chad enjoyed the bench.

These two looked very comfortable together.

The shoot was a lot of fun you two. I'm looking forward to your wedding next summer. Cheers to you both.

Debi and Troy - September 9, 2006

On Saturday, I had a ton of fun shooting the wedding of Debi and Troy. This young, energetic couple and their wedding party were never short on hilarious antics which made the day a hoot to shoot.

Below, Debi's father escorts her to her pending ceremony.

The ceremony was held at an ampitheatre within the Citadel Theatre.

Troy moves in for a steamy kiss once the couple is pronounced.

Here, Debi does her best impression of The Constant Wife.

After ceremony was spent some time shooting in Edmonton's downtown core. Here, the beautiful bride poses for a portrait in front of city hall.

Check out these lovely ladies. Debi and her bridesmaids smile for a shot on the grounds of the Muttart Conservatory.

The tone was set for the night as the couple made a grand entrace into their reception venue on a homemade chariot powered by the groomsmen. This was the most creative entrace I've yet to see - a big thumbs up!

The reception turned into a great party - laughter and fun abounded.

The building erupted with applause as the bride and groom tore up the dance floor during their first dance.

Below, Troy goes hunting for the garter in front of a cheering crowd.

Debi and Troy - your wedding was a blast and you were a pleasure to shoot. Thanks a ton for allowing me to be a part your day. Best wishes.

Diane and John - September 2, 2006

Yesterday I had the chance to shoot the wedding of Diane and John. This friendly couple hails from Victoria, BC but tied the knot in Edmonton so as to be close to the majority of their family. Above the handsome couple descends the stairs of one of the legislature buildings.

The couple held their ceremony at the Margaret Ziedler Star Theatre in the Telus World of Science (formally known as Odyssium). This was a great venue for a ceremony - lots of ambience and cool lighting.

Below, the vows are sealed with the couple's first kiss.

After the ceremony, we proceeded to the legislature grounds for formals. The hot sunny day and long weekend date resulted in what had to be a record number of wedding parties there (I estimate 20-25). Luckily the grounds are sizable and provides plenty of different shooting opportunies. Below is a shot on one of the many stairways on the grounds.

The reception was held at St. Michael's Parish hall. The decorating was lovely, the food was great, and the mood festive. Below the couple share's their first dance.

After plenty of dancing and spending some time mingling with their guests, the couple cut the cake.

Thank you much for letting me share in your special day Diane and John. As your wedding party speakers eloquently put, you two are perfect for each other and destined for a happy marriage. Cheers.
