Trash the Dress Session - Janna Kasumovic - June 26, 2007

I'm now a married man! Janna - the pretty lady in the photo above - became my wife last Saturday. Our wedding went off without a hitch (as it was an outdoor ceremony the lack of rain was much appreciated). Wedding photos will follow at some point when we get them back from our photographer. In the mean time, we've been honeymooning in Jasper National Park since Sunday. This morning, we rose at the crack of dawn and headed out to do a trash the dress session on Patricia and Pyramid lake in the park.

Here's Janna posing for a portrait in front of Patricia Lake. The outside temperature at 6am was a wopping 5c. And the water was even colder.

My wife is a resilient lady. Here she steps into the icy lake in her lovely wedding dress.

A dreamy scene admidst beautiful surroundings.

A smile admist a warm portrait.

I have to hand it to her, that water would've had me yelping!

Janna relaxes on the shoreline.

Another view of a pristine morning in Jasper and a beautiful bride in the water.

Thank you, Janna, for tolerating the cold - I love you. :) We'll be heading back to Edmonton tomorrow. This Saturday I'll be shooting a wedding that promises to be a hoot - watch for it on the blog early next week.

Cheers!

Janna and Jason - June 23, 2007

Meet ... ME! And my wife - Janna. As you might've surmised by our 'trash the dress' honeymoon shots a couple of posts back, Janna and I tied the knot on June 23. While I offered to do the photography, Janna was rather insistent that I didn't. So - these photos WERE NOT taken by me. Credit must go to Carlo Marrazzo, our photographer who bravely agreed to shoot my wedding and allow me to do the processing and subsequent album. Thank you, Carlo!

Janna and I taking our vows at the Devonian Botanic Gardens. The skies were looking grim for a bit but in the end, the sun won the day for us.

I publish everyone else's first kiss - it's only fair I publish my own.

Janna and I catching a cart ride to the Japanese Gardens for our formals.

Here are the lovely ladies of the wedding. All three of Janna's bridesmaids are named Jennifer (true story)! We decided on assigning them special code names for the day - Curly, Larry, and Mo. You can guess who's who.

Here are the boys trying to look tough. Personally, I think I pulled it off alot better than my groomsmen....

My beautiful bride Janna.

Janna and I. As I'm a full foot taller than her, we had to get all technical and have Janna stand on a large rock for this shot.

Thank you Carlo for the excellent photos. And thank you to the wedding party and all the guests who helped make it a great day! Cheers!

Family Session - Fatima, Mike, and Jake - June 22, 2007

It's not often I publish family portrait sessions on the blog, but this one was special. As some of you may already know, tomorrow is -my- wedding day. And as such, I have relatives coming in from various parts of the country. Fatima is my sister and resides in Winnipeg with her long time partner in crime Mike and son Jake. It's rare to see a decent photo of these guys so I offered to take them out on a shoot.

This handsome young fellow is my nephew Jake. He's looking pretty cool.

Of course mom and dad need to keep an eye on him.

Sunshine, green grass, and some feet that were dangerously close to my face.

Mike decided he needed a break.

A family portrait on the steps of the legislature.

Jake catches Fatima and Mike in the act.

Don't these two look good together? They've been a couple since VHS tapes became all the rage.

A final shot on the legislature grounds.

Thanks for coming to my wedding, sis. I'll see you later tonight.

Chantelle and Jeff - June 16, 2007

On Saturday I had the special pleasure of shooting the wedding of Chantelle and Jeff. I knew from my engagement session with them last year that I was in for an entertaining wedding. Jeff's hilarious antics kept Chantelle and the rest of the guests laughing for much of the event.

The ceremony was held at the Devonian Botanic Gardens. Here, Chantelle's father escorts her down the grassy isle.

While thunderclouds loomed to the southwest, the vows were taken under bright, sunny skies.

Chantelle's son Liam provides the rings to the bride and groom.

I probably could've burned through an entire CF card on this couple's lengthy first kiss. Nice one, Chantelle and Jeff!

Though our formal session was cut short by a thunderstorm, we did manage several shots in the lovely Japanese Garden. Here the wedding party (and particularly the groom) strut their stuff.

The beautiful bride smiles for the camera.

The couple share a dip in the gardens.

A special moment and kiss in black and white..

The reception was held at the Moose Family Lodge. Kudos to the speakers for a great job. They kept the newlyweds in a combination of laughter and happy tears the whole duration.

Jeff prepares for the cake cutting ... with a dance?

The cake is cut.

Later in the evening, the wedding party abducted Chantelle and refused to let her near Jeff unless he agreed to do a karaoke rendition of 'I Touch Myself'. It was hilarious - and some of the photos of this particular event will be for adult eyes only. :)

A candid moment right after the song.

Jeff goes looking for that elusive garter.

Chantelle and Jeff - you two were a hoot. Thanks for the great time and all the best for many years to come. Cheers!

Amanda and Kris - June 9, 2007

Meet Amanda and Kris. This handsome couple was one of the most easy going I've had the pleasure of working with. Thanks to their laid back nature and a great supporting cast of family and friends, their wedding went off without a hitch leaving everyone with a smile.

Both the ceremony and formals took place at the legislature. Just after the ladies finished preparing inside, I took a few portraits of the beautiful bride in the halls.

The ceremony began a few minutes later on the front steps. Amanda's father escorts her down the stairs.

Guests watched from their chairs between the stairs and the fountains.

Emotions ran high as vows were exchanged.

A kiss seals the marriage.

We retreated to the greener portions of the legislature grounds to shoot some formals. Looking good, ladies!

The wedding party looks down on their photographer.

A big sky and a big kiss.

Kris has trouble keeping his lips off.

The newlyweds take a stroll up the southern stairs of the legislature.

Amanda and Kris enjoy each other's smile.

The reception was held at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. Each guest received a lucky penny as a momento from the lucky in love couple.

I have to hand it to the couple's MC. He was one of the funniest ones I've heard in awhile. The expressions on Amanda and Kris's faces says it all.

The couple shares their first dance.

Once the cake was cut, Amanda couldn't decide what tasted better.

Kris and Amanda - thanks for making me a part of your special day. You two were incredibly easy to work with and I enjoyed every moment. Have a great time on your honeymoon and we'll see you soon. Cheers!
